The Airborne Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (AMMR) has been in operation since the 1970s. AMMR measures thermal microwave emissions in brightness temperature. AMMR is used to measure precipitation. It operated from 10-92 GHz. AMMR has been used in validation efforts for satellite instruments.
