The Campaign

The Alaska April-95 campaign was a NASA flight campaign to map snow and ice and collect measurements of first-year and multi-year sea ice. It consisted of a single deployment in April 1995 across central and northern Alaska and the Bering Sea. The NASA ER-2 aircraft was equipped with the MODIS Airborne Simulator (MAS), Millimeter-wave Imaging Radiometer (MIR), High Resolution Interferometer Sounder (HIS), and Cloud Lidar System (CLS) to collect remotely sensed data on snow and ice. These measurements supported the validation of satellite observations of sea ice and snow cover.
