The Campaign

The Aerosol Characterization for Polarimeter and Lidar (ACEPOL) field campaign focused on multi-sensor retrievals and validation of aerosol properties. ACEPOL had a single deployment in October-November 2017, over the highly varied regions of mainly California, Nevada, and Arizona. Airborne and ground-based observations of aerosol and air quality properties were collected to support instrument calibration and measurement technique analyses. ACEPOL was principally funded by NASA’s Aerosol-Clouds-Ecosystem (ACE) mission, with additional support from NASA’s CALIPSO satellite mission, and the Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON).
